Knowing When to Quit

When Giving Feels Like A One-Way Street - Knowing When To Reset.

Forget everything you've heard about quitting. The whole “Quitters never win” mantra? Toss it out the window.

In fact, for women leaders, quitting might just be the smartest move you’ll make.

When you shed outdated goals, unnecessary commitments, or the endless “shoulds” that don’t align with who you are, you’re not quitting—you’re re-aligning goals. Knowing when to pivot is key, and sometimes that means stepping away from roles or projects that suck your soul dry instead of lighting you up.

Three Signs It's Time To Quit:

  • The Goal No Longer Fits Your Vision
If you’ve grown, your goals should too. A goal that once sparked excitement now feels like an old pair of shoes that no longer fit? Time to ditch it. This shift is a sign of personal growth, new priorities, and realizing what truly aligns with your next level.
  • You’re Doing It for ‘Them,’ Not You
If you're still holding onto that role, responsibility, or relationship because someone else expects you to, stop. When you’re chasing approval instead of your own desires, you're living for others, not yourself. That’s a recipe for burnout and regret. You’re Doing It for ‘Them,’ Not You
  • The Energy Drain Isn’t Worth It
If something feels like it’s sucking the life out of you instead of fueling your ambition, take it as a major red flag. Leaders protect their energy. If it’s not lifting you up, it’s dragging you down—let it go.

    The Winning Way to Quit:
    • Refocus – Channel your energy where it truly matters.
    • Release – Let it go without the guilt.
    • Assess – Does this still serve me?

Now, go ahead and quit. It’s time to win.
